Trott family southern Ireland
« on: Thursday 28 April 22 18:50 BST (UK) »
Hi I'm doing my family tree and found out my grandmothers father is John Frederick trott he had a brother called Joseph and two sisters Alice and Emma or Emily and his father was William trott.
They lived on a farm in southern Ireland and came over to England when he was still young. How common is the last name trott in Ireland. I've read there was a family of trotts in Longford but don't know if a relation at all. Would like to find as much information as I can please. Thank you.

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Do you have approximate dates for your family. It would help.

Civil registrations on Irish Genealogy shows the following- 39 births, 23 deaths, 16 marriages. I don't see a marriage for William or births for any of his children that you mention.
Registration of births started 1864 so perhaps the children were born before that date.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Have you found William and his children on any English records? Where-exactly, not just the county? How old were they?

Start with what you know for sure.

What was your grandmother’s name?
Where and when was she born?
