Decipher Marriage Record - Help Needed!
« on: Friday 29 April 22 11:29 BST (UK) »
Hi

Please see the attached marriage record of my 3rd great-grandmother/grandfather, Elizabeth Spurgeon and Daniel Bryant.

Could anyone decipher the names of the witnesses? I guess they are probably Elizabeth Spurgeon's parents.

Thanks!

Looks like Elisha and Ann SPURGEON to me.  :)

Not necessarily parents - could be siblings; brother and his wife; cousin etc.

This can't be the same Elisha & Ann Spurgeon who were witnesses to the marriage of Elizabeth Spurgeon & Daniel Bryant , which was on 29th August 1811, although they were likely to be relatives?

The witness may be Elisha bapt 1791 Halstead .
(yes I agree it wont be Ann Hodge the wife of Elisha as they dont marry til 1813)

But it may be her Mother Ann Spurgeon nee Cheek as she didn't die until 1820;
