Advice needed on Cancelling Subs at FindmyPast.
« on: Sunday 01 May 22 15:06 BST (UK) »

Can anyone on here advise me on how to cancel my subscription to the Find myPast Site please?

In order to view the 1921 Census as soon as it became available, I took out a subscription.

I now want to cancel it, but despite wading through my account details and trying to unsubscribe, it seems impossible to cancel before my year is up?

I get this message:

Your subscription is now cancelled. However, it will remain valid until Nov 23 2022, 10:24 UTC.

Obviously I don’t want to auto renew, but is it not possible to cancel the current subscription? I know that you can with Ancestry, because I’ve done it previously, and been refunded.

Romilly.

You HAVE cancelled, that's what it states.

No refund is due though.

How frustrating!

My initial thought was to sign up to view the 1921 Census and then cancel straight away. In the event, it’s been 5 months, but there’s nothing more on there that I want to view.

And I still have a Brickwall with my paternal grandfather! 🤣🤣🤣

BUT you have to remember that FindMyPast add new records every week, AND/OR you could perhaps help others with their searches!  :-\

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I’ve been doing that for years Bumble B!

I’ve been able to find lots for other people, but my Grandfather has defeated me 😨😵‍💫

I subscribed to FindMyPast for years, - back to when it was 1837 something… However, these days I much prefer the search facilities on Ancestry, to which I also subscribe.

No other Censuses likely to become available in my lifetime, and I’ve exhausted all other possibilities… I just won’t leap in and subscribe in future.

Glad to hear it.  Let's hope that FindMyPast uncovers your Grandfather for you.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I have too.
I can’t recall though whether he was found in 1921 with any further information or whether he was deceased by then?

I don’t want to go off track though with this thread. Sorry
