Diary summary week ending 8TH MAY
« on: Monday 02 May 22 11:29 BST (UK) »
Well, here we go again, another start of a new week

Not much going on for Bank Holiday Monday, weather is dull and dismal once again, I am watering my garden as the ground is so dry, will be to dry to put plants in, at least I can empty my water butt, clean it out and start afresh for when it does start to rain

Hope all is well with everyone

Where is  everyone today?

Somewhere I  read a suggestion that    because is quiet people have   found other  things to do  because it was a  bank  holiday,  perhaps that  is so  but so far today  I  am  lone ranger

My husband and  I  keep  our eye on the church notice  boards ,  I did tidy up one on my own  last  week  but the other is  a  2 manned job, this  one  has a perspex window,  someone in the past  had cellotaped  a  notice on outside which has  left marks,  I have tried to move the cellotape  marks to no avail,  has anyone any ideas as to how to remove these marks

Hi L M
Have you tried alcohol wipes? They usually work.
Failing that try vodka or anything with a high alcohol content, just resist licking the perspex after.  ;D ;D ;D

I tried it with white spirit, it has  just spread the marks, I will try it  with alcohol, haven't got any vodka, so will try to get a  miniature,  if  not  i  might have to pay for a new perspex, wish  I  had  left it alone,
Thank  you

Hi LM I’ve been busy today doing family history stuff as the weather wasn’t nice enough to do much else. Re your Perspex, you can get a label removing liquid called sticky stuff, but it probably has alcohol in it so alcohol wipes may be cheaper.

I bought a glass cooking dish from a well known supermarket despite all the reviews that said it was impossible to remove the label which was on the inside of the dish. I was sure that I'd be able to remove it, how arrogant of me, it wouldn't budge! However, I wasn't going to let it beat me so after Googling it I tried several of the suggestions, eventually I found a successful one:
Make a paste of olive oil and bicarbonateo of soda, rub it on the offending sticky stuff,  wait five minutes then wipe away. It worked a treat!

Hope it works for you LM.

Surgical Spirit might work ,but when once it could be bought in the Chemist’s not sure nowadays .
“ Sticky Stuff Remover” might that have removed the gunge?

Had a visit from  nearish neighbour this afternoon ,so many problems poor soul.
Her bank need her to go to a branch regarding the great change in her signature ,well she is almost completely blind and has not made any transactions for years!
She does have a card saying she is registered as blind so is hoping that will suffice.
She will have to wait until her daughter can take her down ,I would go with her but really think it is better if I steer clear of anything to do with her finances.

Daughter phoned this evening as usual ,my grand daughter has Covid and her boyfriend !
Several staff members too .
The strange thing is people are feeling ill, they test - negative -but twelve hours later  - positive !

Flash Harry —- he does not hear swearing at home but has on occasion heard the odd word ,outside, had it explained the swearers were a bit silly ,did not know the proper word so used a very silly not nice one .
He was in a shop somewhere ,he is reading all he sees so there was a Swear Box for sale ,asked what it was for ,then said ‘“Can you charge people for using silly not nice words ?”
So he fancies charging 20p if anyone swears .

He has a friend who is obviously Autistic, very clever, really serious beyond his years, but has no idea how to play so is missing out on life skills .
It is hoped FH can help him to enjoy normal play .

He is six this month, gosh where are the years going so fast ?
Baby is blooming ,has a real laugh ,shrieks with laughter at FH and my daughter’s little dog .
Well I am off to bed ,need to check with the bank that  £10 that the Santander receipt said they had given me when I asked for £100,in fact they gave nothing!

So Goodnight folks .

Viktoria.

Agreed, not really nice enough to potter in the garden. Spent some time revising on a Brick wall issue. Some more information has come to light and I have followed this up with an order for yet another Death Certificate for this person. The last one where the dates fitted turned out to be another "wrong'un", but a quite sad one. It was for a young boy (7 years old) who had been run over by a tumbrel wheel, over his neck. How awful!
Catch up with relation in Australia (oh's second half cousin) and related to the current brick wall exercise, to update her and see if she has found any more clues.
Rest of the day completing a "spoof" Church Newsletter. Communication is a problem and the main Newsletter was discontinued some time ago so I started writing an "alternative one", Menagerie Conservations between two church wrinklies, Ivor Hedake and Jerry A'trick, righting all the wrongs in the Church today.
