Finding burial plot in dublin
« on: Tuesday 03 May 22 12:04 BST (UK) »
Hi I have just started on my tracing family members journey and I am having difficulty knowing where to look for where someone is buried.
I have looked at a few sites and nothing comes up. My great grandmother was in the South Dublin Union workhouse, but she didn't die there..she had an address in dublin city. One of her babies however did die there in 1914. I have a birth and death cert for both of them but cannot find a buriel place.
Any information of where to look, j would be very grateful.

I would see if you can find the nearest cemetery to where they died and start there by contacting the relevant authority.

If you have the exact dates of death it will help them in checking their records for you.

Good luck with your search  :)

Welcome to Rootschat, Minmin.

I assume you have tried Findagrave & Billion graves in your search.

If you provide more details, names, dates etc, we would all like to help.

The two major cemeteries to try for Dublin city and county for that timeframe are Deansgrange and Glasnevin (Prospect) - the 1st has a pay-website dctrust.ie , records for Deansgrange are free to access.

p.s. if the family were Protestant then add Mount Jerome to the list..
