Have just purchased Mary Elizabeth SHEEAN   Marriage to DE VU

Her Mother on here is    written   as  ELIZABETH SCALES  .

Which i  guess is often another word for  Ellen  so back it goes  to Ellen Mother .
If  its true .

I see on Elizabeth myrtles marr/cert

      "'MARRIAGE  BY DISPENSATION ""  ??

There is absolutely NOTHING  odd about "Marriage by Dispensation".   The Pope or his representative has given permission for the marriage - there must have been some question as to the eligibility of one of the parties to marry the other.  Mr Google can be your friend.

Rootschat has its own search engine.  I am sure this aspect of Roman Catholic church laws has been discussed many times.

BACK SHORTLY with links.

Here's several,  and yes,  Mr Google has lots of others,  so too RChat's search engine.

BACK !!

A thread about dispensations from a few years ago. Contains replies from Wexflyer and heywood. Wexflyer looked at the register page and then gave an opinion.

Added. Another new one from yesterday.

Hi susiee,
Just preparing to let go of my notes on your query.
I hope you have got it all to make good sense by this time.

I just spotted  a piece of noted information I had not passed on and I will do so now.

The subject of the cancelled certificate, Elizabeth Myrtle SHEEAN.

I believe it is very likely she died in 15th Sept  1995 with surname OSBORNE.
And was a resident of Stratford in Gippsland  in 1980.

It seems she shared the address with family members.

She is buried at Bairnsdale Cemetery
Information from my resource regarding the cemetery-

OSBORNE, Elizabeth Myrtle. died 15 Sept 1995. Aged 92. Typiste and Home Duties . Roman Catholic.

There are other of the surname OSBORNE at the same Cemetery but I do not know  whether or not they are connected to her.

Who were the informants & as it seems so far, Mary Helen may not have been brought up by her mother i.e. the informants may not have known the connection

a death registration in Australia has provision for recording the children OF A UNION.

This excludes children who were not product of the union which the deceased person was partner in at death.

Mary ANDREWS was not product  of her fathers marriage at his death not part her mother's at her death.

Regardless of how well the she was known.  It is Not a cover up.

Sue

Thanks Sue,

I was trying to work out why no mention of Mary on the DCs but I was unaware of the full/actual requirements, very informative indeed!

Doesnít it mean the grave was reopened to put Elizabeth in. As opposed to digging a new grave.
Side tracked to a friendís very interesting Norfolk families. MORGAN, PRATT, HORNOR, SUCKLING, GLEANE etc. And in London DOWNES, du CROZ, MORGAN (same MORGANs as the Norwich lot)

Yes. I would agree that is what is meant. Or that following Elizabeth another was added.
You can contact the cemetery and ask for the details of the other interment with her.

Regarding further details of their relationship, I have nothing more.
As this conversation moves closer to dealing with contemporary times, we must be very careful about using names of those who may (OR may not) be involved, or making assumptions.

A marriage registration if it exists, will probably not be available due to state  limitations connected to privacy.

"April 1917 - First son is born - she changes her age on his NSW  cert
1919 - She changes her age on his  NSW   cert"

Are you looking at these two birth certificates?
24045/1917   HARRIS William F parents Ernest F /  Mary H   @  Broken Hill
23482/1919   HARRIS Robert E  parents Ernest F / Mary H   @  Broken Hill

Mother Mary Helen is the informant for both records?

Each certificate shows two ages for Mary Helen?.
One age is erased/crossed out, changed to show a second age?

What are the ages?

Thanks for that W ivenhoe.

I have just found the birth  certs and Father Ernest F Harris is informant on  ***both certs and reg numbers are correct .... so how come different informant   ?  Nothing is altered or crossed out at all  .
