Industrial schools
« on: Friday 06 May 22 11:00 BST (UK) »
I have found 2 female relatives that were sent to an industrial school in Waterford from about mid 1890's to 1900.  Other than the court document, would there be any other records kept that I can research?

I am also looking at what happened to them from when they left until about 1910.

What is the normal thing - did they go back to family; sent to work as maids? or ??

I found with a male relative from Wexford that he remained in Artane till he was 16 and out on licence to a farmer in Dublin till he was 18 back home in Wexford by 1911 census he also had a  sister in Irishtown Ind School who went in service for a family in Wexford.
I got the above info direct from both institutions.

Have you tried contacting Waterford City & County Archives?
