The  dress saga
Took the 2  dresses back that  didn't fit, a shame as  they  , well, one would  have  been OK, got 2 different sizes  just  I case, then had another  look round, went into the largest clothes shop, no names, in case,  was astounded as some  very  nice dresses were on a rack with words " last chance to  buy"  I  could  not believe  it, still only  May, as we departed  to return home I passed a  charity shop,  had a brand  new dress in  the window by a very fashionable and expensive label,  it caught  my eye, the assistant let  me try  it on despite ruining her window display, sadly, it didn't fit, so  I  have 6 weeks to get a  dress and have decided to give it a rest  for 2 weeks and then have another  look,  must say  I  do  not  like  this years styles

Rather than a dress - which you may not wear again - why not a fancy blouse with smart trousers.   Sure you'd get more use from the latter.

Something will come up, LM, I had the same problem when my daughter got married which was in August 1990.
Not a huge wedding but still I wanted to look my best .
I was amazed that at this time of year outfits for  Summer weddings were already sold out.!
I ended up with an Alexon outfit from Whitaker’s of Bolton of floral skirt which was teamed with a short sleeved jacket in the predominant Coral pink of the flowers on the skirt. They were sold together as an outfit.
Hat the same colour ,shoes and bag patent leather as I hate pale coloured shoes .The background the skirt was black so they went well together.

Reminds me  of a joke told by a local -ish folk band.
Daughter announced her marriage ,so,mother went out immediately and spent a fortune on an outfit although the wedding was a long way off.
Time went by and mother was gaining weight, so father tactfully said” Are you looking forward to the wedding love.?”
“ Oo Yes,”
“Do you think you will still fit in the lovely outfit you have bought ?”
Wife flared up -“ Now listen you! I have things in my wardrobe from before we got married and I can still wear them!
In fact I wore one only yesterday!”

“ Really love, what was that then ?”
‘ “That pink scarf “.

Best of luck with your search.
Viktoria.

Do hope you're not too compromised in the hunt for suitable attire, LM, disappointing when you have something in mind and can't find at least a version similar.
Needed to do a bit of shopping other than usual groceries on Thursday, some gifts and a couple of replacement requirements and thankfully all done quite quickly and painlessly at a small town we get to once a month, not busy and good selection too with the handful of shops visited.

Week ended with trip north again for family birthday celebration, baby did very well sleeping through the dinner slot at restaurant for the full 2 and half hours, daughter made and froze the cake a few weeks back and just had to simply ice and finish off the creative topper. Happy occasion for son-in-law, ½ a century and a new wee princess added to family.

Inevitably our PM tested positive over the weekend, with partner having done so previous weekend and their young daughter also midweek.

Now midweek into new week …
