At that time a baptism would be the only confirmation of birth available.  Birth registration did not start in England and Wales until 1837, and even then the early records are not complete as the onus was on the Registrar to collect names, rather than the families going to the Register Office to complete the paperwork.

Does Shadrach name his Father Christopher on his M/C?

And image of the bapt register is on Anc.

Baptism;
25 Feb 1796, St Bartholomew, Coaley
Christophar, Son of William GRIFING

For future ref this appears to be members of the family 1841 in Coaley;
William Griffin   85 Edge Tool Maker
William Griffin Jr. 50 same occp
Elizabeth Griffin   50
Christopher Griffin 15
Pamela Griffin   10

Looks to be Shad's grandfather, uncle and family to me.

Pemus, my father was born in Aston and a Villa fan until he died.
I left for the US in 1974.
I am currently in the UK and visited Coaley last week tracing the Griffin heritage.

In case you are interested - siblings for Shadrach - baptised at Coaley - parents Christopher (Edge Tool Maker) and Mary of Coaley:

Joshua - 25 August 1816
Ann - 7 April 1822

Also image for the 1796 baptism of Christopher Grifing (response from trish1120) is available on Ancestry.
