Marriage Cert Occupations
« on: Friday 13 May 22 12:37 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

Pretty sure the attached marriage certificate is my great great great grandparents. Was a surprise as I had thought his father was an Edward!

I would appreciate help in deciphering some of the information on here though.

1. What does it say in the 'Age' column? Possibly Twenty?
2. What are the residence details?
3. What are the fathers' occupations?

It took me long enough to translate John's occupation as Cordwainer but that fitted with the info I already had. Now I want to track William Johnson down but obviously pre 1837 information is scarce!

Thanks anyone who helps

Pete

Welcome to RootsChat from me too!!

I'll agree with carol18353, other than I might be pedantic and say that the address is Woodhouse Square!  :-X

Think it's Flax dresser rather than dealer

Welcome also to RootsChat  :)

I'll agree with carol8353 and BumbleB, and also be pedantic and say that 'full age' is 21 years or older.

I'm pretty sure he's a flax dresser.

Apologies, I hadn't looked at occupation of father - I'd agree with Flax Dresser.

I'm sure there was a D there when I posted that!

Now I'm on my proper computer I can see it does indeed say Flax Dresser, I was on my phone before and it wasn't that clear.
