George Darcy bn Athlone circa 1941
« on: Friday 13 May 22 20:37 BST (UK) »
I have just discovered from the 1921 census, that a relative of my wife; a George Darcy bn circa 1841 and a resident of a Salvation Army Home in Birmingham, was born in Athlone. I assume that to be Athlone on Ireland.

I have previously received a copy of his marriage certificate from which I see his father was called ‘Luke’.

George Darcy died in Birmingham in 1923 (I am awaiting his Death certificate).

This George is not to be confused with his son, also called George (Thomas) Darcy who died in Birmingham in 1924.

I use the ‘Findmypast’ search engine and am unable to find any reference to George (or Luke) being born or living in Ireland.

Can anyone help me find any information on them both or point me in the right direction.

I would appreciate any assistance.

Thank you for your prompt replies - very helpful.

I didn't realise that the name Darcy could be misread so many times: Darry, Dorsey, Davey and even Dawson!
