Evening all.
This is the household of my great grandmother, Elizabeth Bowdidge (nee Diment), in Weymouth. The eldest daughter is Bessie Bowdidge, born in 1876. I've got plenty of information about her. But who is the third person in the household?

It has been universally interpreted as "Alice Bowdidge" in the past. But there is no birth record for an Alice Bowdidge around 1883 ( 1891 - 8 ) and no-one has been able to uncover any other records for her.
I had another look at the scan today and noticed that the first letter is a large "a" rather than an "A". This isn't unusual, however there are a few other occurrences of names beginning with A on that page and in the same handwriting, and they all start with the usual capital letter A.
And what on earth is happening at the end of the name? It's a very extravagant flourish or tail of some sort. But if the letter is an "e" then is it unlike the "e" in Bessie, or indeed Bowdidge?
If anyone else would like to have a guess at alternatives as to what this name could be then I'd be much obliged. Here is a link to the scan of the page on Ancestry UK:
