Hi Alison

I see your family tree here on A/try www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/178188040/person/342342621186/facts.

Have you looked at the censuses for the family?

Joseph Snr born c. 1871, I think this looks like the family's 1901 census entry after his marriage to Mary McIntyre:

Joseph Thomson 29 Cotton Mill Worker b. british subject, America (the original image would help here to confirm what it says)
Mary Thomson 27
Joseph Thomson 9
John Thomson 7
Mary Thomson 5
Euphemia Thomson 3
Jane Thomson 2

Address: 75 New Street, Rutherglen, Lanarkshire

Have you found him in 1891 after his marriage? Was this in 1889 in Dennistoun, Glasgow?

Added: 1891

Joseph Thomson 22 Cotton Worker b. Glasgow
Mary Thomson 17 Wife b. Glasgow
Jane McIntyre 9 Visitor

Address: 11 Trafalgar St, Bridgeton Glasgow

Parents Charles & Mary are correctly as I’ve got all certificates
Joseph thomson & Elizabeth boyle marriage is right as I have certificate & I have Joseph’s birth & death.
Next it’s Joseph thomson & Mary mcintyre, I have their marriage certificate that gives their parents names and that’s Peters thomson & Mary carrigan, then thomson, then kelly and I also have Joseph’s death with his parents but cannot find anything about them. No dates of birth, marriage or death. I do know they all came from Denniston, Rutherglen areas
Can i ask what site you use to look at the censuses please

The information that you are giving is NOT at all clear, as we cannot see the certificates.
Can you please give the FULL information from the Marriage certificate, in a much clearer manner?

Suggestion added: If you post the certificate on your Ancestry page, we would see it.

Just for general searches, the Scottish census transcripts are available on the subs sites Ancestry and Find my Past.

Once I find what I need, I tend to then get the corresponding original image from Scotlands People. From what you have to date, guess you are already using both.

As mentioned above, what occupation did Joseph give for his father on his marriage reg?
