Help! Can't Find Source!
« on: Tuesday 24 May 22 11:18 BST (UK) »
I have committed the ultimate sin. I have diligently done my research on George Taylor Whyman, 1882 - 1917, and discovered that he was admitted to the Nottingham (Bagthorpe) Workhouse on 1st December 1909 and discharged 6th December 1909. His daughter, Cissie, is admitted in March or early April 1910, perhaps for medical treatment as she died shortly after.
I am now writing up my research notes and find I haven't recorded my sources for this information!
I've looked on Ancestry and Family Search, and had a quick look on Find My Past, but with no luck. Can anyone with the Genealogist or any other database advise if any of them contain records for this institution. Over the years I've had memberships with most of them and can't remember where I got the information from.
Many thanks, Pete.

Welcome to Rootschat! I looked at FreeREG first, and found his baptism; 13/11/1822 living at New Road, Radford. Notts. Father John, Mother Frances-John was a Signalman on the railway. You obviously have Ancestry as you say you looked him up but didn't find anything, well there is loads of information on him on there at least 14 different items including a photograph plus a newspaper clipping of his WW1 war death in 1917. His marriage was 23/5/1904 in Leeds to Ellen Lynch. I will leave you to find all the rest in fact you may well have some of it, but may not have recorded where you found it.
Regards.

Hi PeterB

We have all made the same mistake at some time, it does make you cross.

I have searched, Ancestry, FindMyPast, Familysearch etc, but have been unable to find on line any records for the Workhouse records Bagthorpe Nottingham.

So if you have not visited the Record office in Nottingham, did you find the info in one of the submitted trees?

Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Thanks for help. I have found him on ancestry, but it's the Workhouse records I can't find. I guess I must have discovered his workhouse admission at Nottinghamshire Archives which I've visited many times, but I can't for the life of me imagine what I've done with my notes!
Another visit called for!
Thanks again.
