If he died in 1917 - he wouldn't have been available to receive a medal so it would have been given to parents.  Presume he wasn't married as only born 1892

His Medal Roll Index card is on Ancestry -awarded the British/Victory & 15 star medals.

Theatre of war = Balkans - entered 6.8.1915

Carlin (Ireland & Liverpool) Doughty & Wright (Liverpool) Dick & Park (Scotland & Liverpool)

He was married in 1914 to Florrie Guymer. I think there also may have been a child by the time Sydney died, Cecil born in 1915.

So any awards etc would have gone to her.

His medals would have been automatically sent to the most up-to-date address the army had for him. If medals were not delivered, there would usually be a note of this on the front or back of the medal card. CaroleW has looked at this, so presumably they were delivered.

Thanks for all your posts. His only child had learning difficulties and died aged only 23 years old.would love to know where his medal is now. Would pay good money for it.

Can anyone tell the date that Sydney Walter joined up for WW1 please. He married in 1914 and his son Cecil was born in 1915 and I feel sure he would never have met his son before he died 2/11/1917. So very sad.
