St Mary Magdalene and St Olave, Bermondsey, Southwark
« on: Tuesday 31 May 22 21:49 BST (UK) »
Kia ora

I have a couple of queries.

Anything on James Higham, his parents, who he married were there other children, and when did he and his wife die.

James Higham born 1665c and had a daughter Sarah Higham 22 March 1684 St Mary Magdalene church in Bermondsey, Southwark.

Anything on John Cox, his background, any other children and both their deaths?

John Cox born 1685c a carpenter married Sarah Higham on 20 October 1705 St Olave, Bermondsey. Southwark, by Banns.   Sarah and John had three children, all born in Southwark Surrey:  Sarah Cox 16 May 1709, Mary Cox 20 July 1712-7 August 1712 and Mary Cox 24 October 1714.  St Olave, Bermondsey, Southwark.

Kia ora Cider drinker

I think I have them sorted now.

Indeed his birth would surely be earlier, although no doubt he could have been just 16?
Mary Shellot - was Shellot a middle name, or her married name do you think?
I have never heard the name Welthan before.

I am not at all familiar with the area so I don't know of the likelihood of one of their children being born in Deptford, need to check the distance, seems a bit odd.

I can see by all of this that I need to look outside the square more in terms of the names e.g. Cocke - Cox etc.

Many thanks for all of this.
