De La Haye
« on: Sunday 04 September 05 20:06 BST (UK) »
Looking for any information on a family called De La Haye. Seems they were in the St Brelade regionof Jersey I have found a family, John and his wife Harriett on the 1881, they had a son John 13 in 1881, he married Agnes ? and had a son Gerald born 1899/1900. I  have that family on the 1901 census .
Many thanks for any help Twiggy

I think this would be them in 1891
RG12/4700 St Brelade Sub district H Folio 84 Page 8
Sea View Cottage St Brelade, Jersey
John De La Haye Head M 23 Agricultural Labourer Jersey St Brelade's
Agnes Ann Wife M 27 Easington Co Durham
John Allan Son 7 months Jersey St Brelades

There are no obvious John & Harriet in 1891 but if you give their ages and birth places, maybe I could have another look.

Dear May,
Many thanks for your reply. The John 48 is the family I was looking for. I had found a family with Harriet as head, and through John must have died, but seeing the one you found it is the right one. Harriet's full name was Harriet Rachael Anne. I have been doing a bit of digging on the LDS website and found that, however according to that Agnes, John the son's wife was born at St Helier, and her name was Agnes Anne Watson. Their son, Gerald who was born about 1899/1901 married a distant cousin of mine, I believe there is some of their family on Jersey, Her name was Kathleen Twigg daughter of Arthur William from Shropshire.
Many thanks again Twiggy

:D Dear Mike, What a wonderful Santa you are. Many thanks for the info and yes anything you can find on the family I would greatly appreciate. I am in Australia, which makes it extremely difficult to find anything other that what I can get on LDS films.
Happy Christmas from Australia where it is sweltering
Twiggy

Hello Twiggy

I found your request on line, and even tho' several years old, it interests me because my mother was a de la Haye.   I have also read the replies by others and can identify that the John and Harriet were my great grandparents.  My grandfather was John de la Haye born St. Brelade.  Please contact me and we can exchange resources for the de la Haye's.

Regards

Hello Jane

I have no connection to the De La Hayes, but I'm just letting you know that Twiggy hasn't been onto Rootschat since Sept 2007, so he/she may not see your post.

However, welcome; and you never know, you may will find all sorts of useful and interesting info on here.  :)

With another couple of posts, (for example just acknowledge this) you will be able to send PMs (private messages) and then you can try to contact Twiggy directly.  When you can send PMs you will see a little green scroll under everyone's avatar on their posts.  You then click on that to send a PM.
