Trying to find a photograph of Joseph hird
« on: Friday 10 June 22 23:47 BST (UK) »
Mr. Joseph Hird, of Huntly street, was my great grandfather three times removed. He was an overseer
and
a purveyor of wool for Messrs A. Hadden and sons; starting his employment, in 1838, at the age of 13.
He spent sixty years working for the company until his retirement in 1898. In the Aberdeen People's Journal, dated Saturday 12 November 1898, he was commended by the above mentioned company for his long and meritorious service . There is an illustration of Mr Hird on the front; to quote the article ''Our portrait of Mr Hird is from a photograph by Messrs copper and porter. King street, Aberdeen''. I was wondering if it would be at all possible to find the original picture, or at least a copy.
Thanks:

The newspaper would have borrowed the photograph from the family and returned it to them afterwards.

I've just found a copy of the original photograph posted in the Aberdeen Evening Express.

The drawing is a decent likeness.  :)
