Hi,

I have this name underlined in the attachment. William Williams daughter seems to have married Richard Wathan, and she is referred to as ??? Wathan.

It might be "sis" but I'd really appreciate getting an expert opinion.

The will on-line at the NLW under William Williams, shopkeeper, Trecastle Breconshire. 1806

Thanks for your kind attention!

To me it looks like "SUS" - Susan?

Agree. I can see a small mark above and to the right of the last 'S" that may indicate a contraction.
It seems to be separate to the tail of the letter above.

I was thinking along the Sus for Susan as well, until I saw her banns...(assuming this is her!)

Year: 1800

Hi!

I really appreciate your help!

Cicely was right!

With that information I was able to find:

Margaret baptised by Richard Wathan, Shopkeeper, and Cicely at St John's Brecon in 1805.
(This corresponds to Richard Wathan, shopkeeper, Brecon one of the Bondsmen on  William Williams Will).
Richard was probably born in Llanfihangel Nant Bran, and moved to Brecon after he married Cicely Williams around 1800.
They had three children: they were were Margaret 1805 - and Roger 1802- 1825, and a third one William age 20 in the 1841 Census

Amazing what I could find out once you deciphered sis!

Cheers,

Llanfi  :) :) :) :) :) :)
