Sherlock Holmes where are you?
« on: Saturday 11 June 22 16:20 BST (UK) »
After purchasing the birth certificate of  my 3x ggrandmother I was quite shocked to find that I'd been barking up the wrong tree for her parents. getting over the huge disappointment and starting again has been a struggle but I'm sure it must happen.
Ann Maria Reeves b24 mar 1853, Dudley Staffordshire. mmn Goodman F Joseph Reeves. I found a baptism record 3 Apr 1853 for Staffordshire and parents are Elizabeth & Joseph Reeves (brickmaker)
I have trawled all the records on FindMyPast, FreeREG and have come up with nothing, searched all the counties in England. I can't even find a census with those names. Elizabeth was born in Tamworth 1824 and her father was William Goodman, mother Mary but I 'm struggling to reconcile any of these names.
Ward, Bentley, Reeves, Sharpe. Everett, Rowe.

Have you the marriage certificate for Ann Maria?

If so who did she name as her father and what name does she go under on census - Ann or Maria or both?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

How do you know you have the right birth cert?  The 1861 has 4 entries for Ann Reeves in the same birth timescale but none for an Ann Maria

Who did she marry & when?

What birthplace is shown for her on census entries after she married?

As mentioned above - what is her fathers name on her marriage cert?

I haven't got a marriage certificate, and she's only on the 1881 census as Maria, she died in 1885.
I'll have to back track and start again
Thanks for the pointers...I think I'd doubt my own name today.

Presumably this is the one that married William Ward in 1873?

Per the 1881 census her birthplace was Deep Fields, "Alfordshire" - presumably Staffordshire.

She's in the 1861 census at 2 Mill Lane, Leicester. Age 7. Birthplace Deep Fields, Staffordshire. With widowed mother Elizabeth 34, born Leicester, and siblings Elizabeth 13 and Mary 2, both born Leicester.  Also 2 Greaves boarders.
