Hi all
I seem to remember the 1881 Census for UK was online and free. But where? I cannot afford subscriptions. So please just the free service.

If venturing into Scotland for the 1881 census, you can view the 1881 LDS census transcripts for free online. You have to register on
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
(it's free) and then access the census options from there.
Just note that SP have their own 1881 census index which gives access to the original images and which you have to pay to view via units.

I have not tried looking but thought that the 1881 transcripts done by the LDS were free on ancestry and FindMyPast as well
