I have a postcard photo of a relative with a handwritten caption on the back with one mystery word.
I think it says:
Taken at Wallingford [something]
1928
2 1/2 years
Is the [something] Cambs - perhaps just an error as it was in Berkshire then? Or Gardens? But the photo is a studio shot. Or another word? The child was in a children's home at that time so I have asked Wallingford museum what homes there were in the area then.
[edit - not succeeded with this] I've attached the photo too - interesting because there's what I thought was a file but looks like it's a bound book. Pretty dog-eared so I guess a children's book to keep him occupied, but he still waved and swung his foot while being photographed.
