        Alfred Guilbert  Married Irish worker    Mary Madden.     Immigrated to New Zealand.
 Alfred sister  = Harriet Guilbert Married a Capt. Phillip Manual and I believe moved to Australia.

Now back to family.   John and Mary  Arrived in NZ 1862 ,  they  had 5 childern  Louise, Harriet and William, Alfred and Jack .  William   Louise died from Rheumatic feaver,  Harriet married Charles ReaderAlfred married 2 daughters and one adopted daughter Jack  not married William  married Lizzie Smith  They had nine childern  and that is where I came into this as the grand daughter     Hope you can be of some help   Iris New  Zealand

I can search the Channel Island census 1861 for you, but can you be more specific about names and ages at all?  In your first post, you mentioned Alfred, but in the second John

Hello and thank you   I was getting a bit tired up before but now think I have it sorted.   
In the 1841 Census I have found  Film 0464352 Piece H.O. 107 1460   District One
Peter Guilbert 45 Journeyman Y
Mary   40y    Louise 10y    Harrieta 8 y    Charlotte 4 y
Alfred 6 y    John 1y 
I would like to see how these appear in the next census  I have a letter from an Amy  written in 1896 Alfred  had died and Harriet was still alive. IN  a letter no  dated Aunt Charlotte died Christmas day possibly married to a Peter ?
Have the feeling this John is my Great Grand father, who married the servant  Mary Madden and  came to New Zealand  in 1862 .They had  5 childern  one being my Grand father  .  I am sure I have this correct now.  I believe there name was spelt Gilbert on the marriage ceriticate but the registered childern as Guilbert. I do not know where they were married but the childern were all born in NZ I think. I am stil looking into this in NZ   any way any help with be a great help so Thankyou   Iris

Margaret Guilbert Daughter 27 single Occ: Milliner
Edward Guilbert Son 22 single Occ: Sailor
Alfred Guilbert son 16 single born: Occ: Scholar
Charlotte guilbert daughter 14 Occ: scholar
John Guilbert son 12 Occ: Scholar
Eliza Keays Guilbert Granddaughter 1

All were born Forest.  The address is the same as 1841.

  Only one problems with ages in 1841 census  Mary was 40 y , she is now 54 yrs old. I don't know who the Margaret 27 yr  and is that her daughter Eliza Keays .  Can you help to find out where Margaret was in the 1841 census.  I am trying to follow the line of John's Life .   How can I find out how and when for sure he immgrated to NZ I only have it from a Aunt that they came to nz in 1862.
Can I checK on the 1861 census.    But once again thankyou   Iris

I believe the 1841 census adults ages were rounded down to the nearest 5.  Only children under the age of 15 were aged correctly.

I cannot find John on the 1861 census.

I found the following on the 1871 census, which I believe could be Aunt Charlotte.
