My House
« on: Monday 20 June 22 15:05 BST (UK) »
Hello all

I used a website that showed me the addresses some of my ancestors and i cant remember what it was called.  I could literally click on the person and it would show everyone who shared that address with them in a list.  Showing the HEAD of the house, Wife of the Head and children mostly.

Im looking to find some history on my house. Its my very first home that ive purchased and id like to know about its history if anyone can help guide me to the right records, that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

You seem to be describing census records, these are available on a number of sites including Findmypast and Ancestry, FreeCen and FamilySearch.

Hi Guy

I think it was an Electoral role or something similar, or maybe the census.  all of the places that you have written are not the one that i used to use.  I cannot think what it was called.  any idea where i can find some history on my house. i know it was built in the 1930's bnut when checking census i see only houses 1 - 20. (im number 30)

Have you access to the deeds of your house - that would show when it was built.

Is it on the 1939 register?  Or is that the one that only goes up to number 20.

Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

I do have the deeds but its written really oddly, i dont understand a majority of it.  I will go through them again and see what i can find.  I found the 20 houses on Find My past.  My house is 30 Althorpe Crescent in Milton keynes but i searched under the district of Wolverton or stantonbury.  I believe years ago the estate was Bradwell but was changed to Bradville (Bradwell is still around, its not an estate near mine)

Electoral rolls only show those eligible to vote but it really does sound like you'd looked at census records although the houses on your street don't look very old. . Do you remember the period the site covered? Have you tried searching in your computer's history with the street name to see if you can find the site?

I have googled my house but found nothing unfortunately and my neighbours have said the houses were built in the 1930s. early 1930's or late i dont know but nether less i have been informed POW built them so possibly 1939? I dont have any evidence to prove any of this though.

I said to search your computer's history not google. If 1930ish (my guess) then not a census record (latest one is 1921 which was just released).

The house types seem to change after no 20 on the even side of the road,  they certainly don't look as old as no 20
