Jane Shirran (Gordon) Mother's maiden name- help!

Wondering if anyone can help...

This is the death cert for Jane Shirran(Gordon), I can't tell what her mother's maiden name is, SP says it is Charteris but I can't find anything to confirm this.


In general struggling with this side of the family so hopefully the maiden name will help.

(A bonus would be if anyone can decipher what the cause of death for her was.)

I thought it was Charteris when I first saw it and then , when enlarged, I was doubtful. However, this style in SP is best read at a distance so I'm going with Charteris.

A very comprehensive tree on Ancestry suggests her maiden name as Charters

The clerk  appears to dot the i in other parts of the cert * and there is an i (dot)  in the surname so I do think it is Charteris.  Online Trees are  quite often wrong.

There are two possible death entries that might connect to Jane (siblings?):

With Mary's death, as you know, can't tell whether Gordon is her maiden name or married name. Two other surnames show for her, Charteris and Lidderdale. Less likely I think that she may be a sibling to Jane but James above does look promising.

I've also  found quite a few baptisms for a Jane/Jean/Janet Charteris  (mainly) in Dumfries and Kirkciubrightshire,

I was just adding a little more to my post above. With this Mary also showing a surname of Charteris, I think she is likely not connected to the Fyvie family group. As always though, needs more checks.
