It says the parents were Joseph Bureau, farmer of St Augustin, and his wife Magdaleine Fisch.

That’s a great start thanks Shaun.

It seems to mention Angelique (edited), and his father ……

Thanks Shaun, sadly my 'o' level French hasn't been much help :(

My O level French (55 years ago) still works OK ! But I did live in Belgium for a couple of years in the 1990s.

Mine's from nearly 50 years ago, but maybe the living in Belgium helped. I struggled to actually read (decipher) the text to start with, otherwise i'd have asked google translate to help :)

I think we might have been expecting the father to be a mariner as son Charles is a British subject according to the 1851 census, so it may not be the right man sadly, but great to keep him in mind.

But being born in Quebec would be enough to make him a British Subject. We've had that discussion on your the other thread.

Also per the 1850 marriage record we should expect the father's name to be John or Jean and his profession to be coach maker (carossier or charron) or something similar. The other one we looked at (Charles Ferdinand Bureau, dit SansSouci) had a father Jean whose occupation was charron
