George William Sharman

George William Sharman was born on 23jul1880 and probably died in Ilford in 1955.  He married Grace Jane Trebilcock on 6jun1908 in St Peters Walworth Surrey.  His marriage record states his father as George William Sharman a bootmaker.

I have searched Ancestry and FamilySearch for any info on the father.  I cannot find him in births, deaths, marriages or any censuses.  I have also input his name, his son and daughter-in-law in the search section for public trees in Ancestry without any success.

There is mention of his wife being Emily Jane but no surname.

There is a birth reg on freebmd in Sept qtr 1880 in St Saviours - mothers maiden name Boyce

A tree on Ancestry has his father as William George & his mother as Emily J - no further info

There is an Army service record for a George Sharman born c 1880 Walworth, it gives nok as Emily Jones, 35 Marcia Road, Old Kent Road.
(previous address 174 East Street, Walworth).
There is an Emily Jones head wid 60 Button Hole Maker        ?ingsland
at 35 Marcia Road, Bermondsey in 1901

She does not appear to have any obvious family with her

Good find! The army record does say Emily Jones is his mother. He won't be on the 1901 census as he was in South Africa.

Emily's age has been mistranscribed, it could be 46.

Not sure, there is this 1911 record that might be Emily Jones, born Kingsland Road, Shoreditch, a needlewoman and she was down as deaf in 1901.
But no children....

This is all supposition but   there is a Boyce family at Kingsland Road, Shoreditch in 1841.

I agree Walworth is the place of birth

I too have seen the links to Emily Jones but I cannot find any supporting evidence.  I also find that one person posts unsubstantiated data on their tree and then dozens of people copy it.  And because it is on so many trees it seems to gain credence.  But thanks for the info on the army and Jones – I will look further into this.

I have been unable to replicate the BMD entry showing Boyce.  However, I have seen the name Boyce recorded but have been unable to find any marriage or other record using that surname
