Hope am not leading you astray here but back to James Buckley brother from 1851.

There is a James Buckley marriage in 1856 and the father is William Warburton - what's that about.
Just a transcription so can't view to confirm the details but interesting both men have odd fathers names.

Was there only Alice?

I can see a baptism 20 Apr 1851 for Alice & Nanny, same parents names - Robert & Mary Ann of Shaw - and birth registrations with Dronfield as the mothers name -

- Alice Sep 1845
Mary Sep 1847
Nanny Sep 1849

Yes there was a Nanny, I think she died though. The maternal grandma is a Sally/Sarah Newton I think they were in Crompton in the census.

When I found the Robert Booth who's dad was a  Robert Booth also the mother was Nanny....which made me wonder if that was her and he's passed down her name to a daughter!

I've not found Mary Ann in any 1851 census either, I've even tried searching for any Manchester Infirmary records but ( even though she's not my 4th gr grandma) I'm tempted to order her death certificate as I'm curious if she was there before or after it became a Lunatic Asylum!

Thanks have found it now but Alice is only 3 so bit young  :-\

Where were they in 1861 - was she the right age there? **

** think I have it with Alice age 13 down as half sister

Confusing isn't it.

Yes she is down as half sister, she still wasn't even that as it would have been niece to the head. Well im going down another rabbit hole now, I've just realised that Alice and Nanny were both baptized on the 20th April 1851.....the census was taken 30th March 1851....so Nanny was alive!! where was Nanny!!  :o  Maybe she didn't die. This family has so many twists and turns lol.

Yes I agree should really be niece.

I can't find Nanny in 1851 but she could be under Ann or similar.
As you say she was alive census time.

To throw another spanner in the works on the Lancashire parish register site there is
Robert Buckley baptised 20 April 1851 with same parents details  :-X

However I don't see a birth registration for a Robert with the right mothers maiden name.
Must be a mistake as I don't see a Robert on the actual baptism register page - just Alice & Nanny.

Thanks for your replies sorry ive not been online, yes i did find their Marriage certificates its how i found out the Robert Booth as the father, i must have got confused with their residence at the time over where they were married which was Shaw where they lived at the time.

I used to be able to see both images for the marriages but now i can only see the one to Mary and theres no actual photo film of his and Ann's now, ive tried searching a few from the same film number and there is no image, does anyone know why that is??
