Deciphering Place of Birth
« on: Friday 01 July 22 15:32 BST (UK) »
Having trouble identifying what the word says at the bottom. The image suggests Loard, Gloucestershire, England. However, there is no such place called 'Loard'. Any ideas, please? Thank you.

The 1841 census appears to corroborate that she was born in Gloucestershire. She's listed near to Edwin Humphris there too, which suggests he may well be her son. Tracing him back to his baptism might reveal his father's name and lead you to his (the father's) marriage to Margaret - which might give a hint of where to look.

It doesn't unfortunately. It just mentioned Church Street to Eastend? Lane, with a few roads between.

Charlton Kings (different household, surname Cox).
Thank you

Edwin father was John Humphries, I am yet to find a marriage record for this, however do have possibilities. Edwin was baptised in Charlton Kings.
