Rhiw Park Abertillery 1903
« on: Saturday 02 July 22 06:32 BST (UK) »
My grandfather was born in 21 Rhiw Park, Abertillery in July 1903, does anyone know who was living at this address at the time? Looking at the map I can see there is a Rhiw Park, road, terrace & mews, I’m not sure if all three of these streets were in existence in 1903.
In attendance at the birth & the person registering the birth was Elizabeth Thomas.
My grandfathers mother was named Beatrice Lewis, she was an unmarried mother & possibly not usually resident at Rhiw Park.
If anyone knows who was registered as living there during the 1901 census this info might also be helpful.
Thanks in advance for any contributions

There was an Elizabeth Thomas at number 19 in 1901.

The census shows this street as Rhew Park or Rhewpark.

Hi Shaun thanks for your input, it looks as if Mr Perry was a coal miner with a young family.
Looking through the census it seems Rhiw  (Rhew) Park was home to mostly mining families at that time. From other info I have it’s likely the baby’s father was a married miner.
It’s a story I may never get the the bottom of, but it’s always worth posing these questions to the Rootschat community!
