And now I’ve got something a little confusing.
Petrus-Frans RYS’s MC and BC mention mum’s name as Leonia Maria CORVELEYN who should still be alive in June 1920. His 1896 BC also states that she is 30 years (i.e. born abt 1865/6) and born in Mariakerke. There are 2 places named Mariakerke one in Oost Vlaanderen and one in West Vlaanderen. The first one did not have any Corveleyns around that time, so I’ve focused on the West Vlaanderen one.
This will be Leonia Maria’s 8 Sep 1866 birth in Mariakerke, West Vlaanderen:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9GV1-BNK?i=523 (#29)
Father: Josephus CORVELEIN, 41 y, born in Mariakerke
Mother: Maria RYCKEWAERT, 36 y, born in Mariakerke
So far, so good …
But then there is a 25 Oct 1870 death for Leonia Maria in Mariakerke:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9GV1-B47?i=627 (#71)
(FYI abt 10 days earlier 2 sisters had died as well … see #68 and #69)
Ok, maybe there is some other explanation …
Here is a 4 Sep 1889 marriage for an Augustinus RYS and a Leonia Ludovia CORVELEYN:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GGVR-9WYS?i=53 (#111)
Augustinus RYS, a widower was born 15 Feb 1859 in Gistel (This fits Petrus-Frans RYS’s MC and BC quite nicely). His parents are Joannes RYS and Ludovica DELEYE (dec 1887). His BC:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9GVB-9N3Z?i=86 Leonia Ludovia CORVELEYN was born 8 Jul 1859 In Mariakerke, her parents Josephus Franciscus CORVELEYN and Maria Ludovica RYCKEWAERT.(both deceased). Her BC:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9GV1-BY5?i=388 In the early 1890’s this specific couple seems to have a few children in Oostende and Brdene, but of course it is followed by Petrus-Frans RYS’s 1896 birth and his 1920 marriage …
And finally,
Augustine Rys (husband of Leonia Ludovica CORVELEYN who is still alive) dies on 28 Jul 1936. The death is registered by “Pierre” RYS, 40y, residing in Anderlecht (remember that 1933 divorce?)
