Ancestry Truncating Data
« on: Tuesday 12 July 22 09:16 BST (UK) »
Hi
Hopefully someone out there will be able to help me.

I have been using Ancestry for over 20 years but recently Ancestry has been truncating data e.g. a death indicated as Higham, Derbyshire, England becomes Derbyshire, England when I add it to my tree, this happens with all B, M, D and Censii data.

Is it possible that I have accidentally reset something, I have asked Ancestry but they deny all knowledge?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

I've not noticed any changes in place name recording.

Is this what it shows when you have completed the entry and pressed save or is it in the options drop down as you are entering the details?

Hi
Apologies if you have received a similar reply earlier this week.

Please see the attached images. They are of a 1939 Census search for John Fearn. It clearly states that he lived in Ripley, Derrbyshire but when I clicked . is truncated down to Derbyshire.

The same thing happens with Births, Marriages, Deaths and Burials.

Thanks for your interest.

I get the same thing. You can manually edit, of course, but it definitely never was like this before.
Mullingar, Westmeath Ireland: Gilligan/Wall/Meagher/Maher/Gray/O'Hara/Corroon (various spellings)
Bristol: Woodman/James/Derrick
Bristol/Somerset: Saunders/Wilmot
Gloucestershire:Woodman/Mathews/Tandy/Stinchcombe/Marten/Thompson
Wiltshire: Mathews
Carmarthen: Thomas, Lewis
Australia: Mary Lewis, transportee, married Henry Brown - what happened to her?

I am a little confused
John Fearn b 1878 - where was he born - was he born in Ripley ?
I can't expand your attachments - did he marry and have children ?

OK seen Annie as his wife
ADDED
Did he marry Annie Cotton - St James the Greater church ,Derby ?
