Passing away of RootsChat member John, ' JDC'
« on: Saturday 16 July 22 10:39 BST (UK) »
We are very sad to hear that John has passed away.

He died on 26th June 2022, aged 69. His obituary, provided by AMG Funeral Home can be read here:
https://www.amgfh.com/condolences/obituary.aspx?id=174795
You may add your condolences there also, which will give comfort and support to his loved ones.

A recording of his funeral service can be viewed here:
https://youtu.be/9SIrXUXVX0w?t=129

He was a popular and active member of RootsChat giving much thought and insight in his replies, known to us with his username of 'JDC'. He was active on the site up to a week before he died. His last post was his attempt to find out about his grandparent's mantel clock.

We hope now he is enjoying hearing all the answers as he meets his ancestors for himself.

He will be very sadly missed by us and we express our deepest condolences to his friends and family.

Love,
Trystan & Sarah

Here is the poem, "The Fallen Limb" read out at his funeral.

A limb has fallen from the family tree.

I keep hearing a voice that says,

“Grieve not for me.

Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.

The good life I lived while I was strong.

Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.

Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.

My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.

Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.

Continue traditions, no matter how small.

Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls.

I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.

Until the day comes we’re together again.”

This is such sad news.

I had the pleasure of meeting John at a Rootschat Meet in Bristol some years ago and, more recently, when he came to Cornwall to do more research at the Archives.

He was unfailingly kind and helpful.

I shall miss him and our discussions about his Langmaid family.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Very sorry to hear of the "passing" of any RootsChat member.  All best wishes to his family.
