Non conformist records
« on: Thursday 21 July 22 07:57 BST (UK) »
I everyone Iím new to all this and Iím stuck on some issues. Mainly how to identify what non-conformist denomination someone is apart of. For example one source stats an ancestor Elizabeth Servant, daughter of direct ancestor David Servant (ABT 1764) is mentioned in the  ďEngland and Wales Non-Conformist Record Indexes (RG4-8), 1588-1977Ē how do I interpret this to find the Servant families denomination. Interestingly they are from Yorkshire which is known for religious non conformity

Is that the baptism of Elizabeth Servant in Leeds in June 1811?

It was at the Bethel Independent Chapel.

Shaun J seems to have answered your question, but if you can tell us which site you have this source from we may be able to tell you 'how' to work it out, in relation to that site.

I have now found a copy of the baptism register and going back through the pages, it says:
ĎA Register Book of Births and Deaths formerly belonging to Bethel Independent Chapel, Wortley, near Leeds.í

She was baptised by Mr Calvert.

This is the record I found, and if you go backward to page 1 it says Salem Chapel.

The register must include both Salem and Bethel records.

The register must include both Salem and Bethel records.

The film has registers for more than one church.
This record is image 94, if you look at page 88 that is the front page of this register, which says Bethel Chapel, Wortley.
