Help with deciphering a (possibly scottish) surname
« on: Thursday 28 July 22 09:31 BST (UK) »
Hello there, I'm looking for any help with the maiden name of a female convict relative, Ann Foley, does this appear to be "formerly McLaughlan"? I can't be certain I'm reading it correctly. Other records state her being a native of Glasgow before arrest in England and deportation.

Regards,
Damien.

I agree with you, I think it is McGlaughlan. Maybe McLaughlin just spelt a bit wrong.

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

McGlaughlan is just another form of McLaughlin, etc.
