William Whitfield & Emma Hooper
« on: Wednesday 03 August 22 02:04 BST (UK) »
My on going research with the Whitfield family that’s led me from Cheshire to Staffordshire, now to a William Whitfield with the following details;
Parents – William Whitfield & Ann Allen
Born - 1821 Stoke-upon-Trent, Staffordshire
1841 Census – Potter, Stoke-upon-Trent
1851 Census – Master of British School (An interesting transformation) Poplar Middlesex
1871 Census – Newspaper Manager
Married – Emma Hooper 12th, June, 1851 William, aged 20 years/Emma aged 18 years From Poplar, Middlesex

I have a basic registration record, but I am struggling to find a Marriage record with at least showing some details. I have found basic info on the marriage.
12th June, 1851
I believe at St John's Baptist Church, Mare Street, Hackney, Middlesex
What I am after is, if anybody could help find a copy of the Marriage record/certificate

Thank you very much for your imput so far.

I have read other comments re Williams other possible marriage(s) but I’m yet to be convinced or find any documentation. That’s not to say it didn’t happen.

From the Census documents, William was living with his parents in 1841, married in 1851 and Emma is shown on each of the Census through to 1871 just before Emma died. I have no proof yet, but I’m wondering if Emma possibly died at childbirth with Margaret, just a thought.

He married after the census in 1851.

Find my past has the actual record.  They sent the BMD index

I think you’ll have to purchase the marriage certificate; I can’t see it online on either ancestry or FindMyPast. (The FindMyPast record is just a copy of the page from registrar’s list, it’s not a copy of the parish record, and contains no information further to what’s available on freeBmD).
