JANE KIRKWOOD (c 1810, Woolwich, Kent)
« on: Wednesday 03 August 22 18:55 BST (UK) »
Think I am asking the impossible this time.
Looking for a marriage document for JANE KIRKWOOD and JAMES BRIGHAM (b 1801 on Holy Island).
They were living on Holy island in 1841
The 1851 and 1861 census' for Holy Island suggests their 1st child John was born in 1830 followed by births in 1834 and 1838.
I have found birth transcripts for 5 of the 6 children born in or after 1839. These show James Brigham and Jane Kirkwood as their parents so I am confident there has to be some document for this marriage.
As always any help is appreciated.

Jane was baptized in the Scot's Church in Woolwich Kent

Born 16 May 1810 bap 10 June 1810

Father William Kirkwood - Gunner in the Royal Artillery
Mother Isabel

I expect he was posted to Northumberland and John and Jane married there possibly in an Independent Church/Non Conformist.

You could check the movements of the Royal Artillery to see where they were posted.

The dates would fit if he were Jane Kirkwood's father. I now need to find a marriage for William Kirkwood to an Isabel ? It seems that using a grandmothers maiden name as a middle name is a tradition on this side of my tree so 3 possible surnames are Moffat, Lilburn or Grey. The most likely is Grey which is Jane's middle name.
Thank you for your help.
