Joseph Soff Keeping
« on: Tuesday 09 August 22 14:46 BST (UK) »
Joseph Soff Keeping was born 1812 in Boldre in Hampshire. He was a butler for the Baillie family- David born around 1786 in Scotland, Louisa (nee Stewart) born around 1810 in Marylebone in Middlesex. The family had a town house 14 Belgrave Square in London and a country house in Westerham, Sevenoaks called Hill Park. My problem I cannot find them in 1861 census, David died in june of 1861. In 1851 Joseph was at Hill Park with David and their sons while Louisa was living at town house with 2 daughters. By 1871 Joseph was still a butler for Louisa who was now living at Adelaide Crescent in Hove, Sussex. Can anyone help me find them in 1861 census please?

Do you happen to know the date and where he had been residing at the time?

David Baiilie's probate lists him as dying on 17 June 1861 at Belgrave Square, Middlesex. And as Rosie99 suggests Belgrave Square, Middlesex does not come up on an address search on the 1861 census

Some parts of London are missing in 1861

Including the entire Belgrave sub-district of St George Hanover Square, which was lost before filming and which FindMyPast notoriously fails to list as missing.

Thank you, so if they were all living in Belgrave Square there will be no records of this, that's a shame.
