Herbert Monk/Monks b 1844 Repton Derbyshire

Hi I am searching for a Herbert Monk or Monks b c 1845 Repton Derbyshire. I have his birth, marriage to Elizabeth Pigott and all the censuses apart from 1901. Elizabeth is living in Old Radford Notts and has two of her children with her. No sign of Herbert. Cannot find a death for him either. No military records either. Any help would be appreciated.

Prison or Quarter Session:    HMP Wakefield  - 28 days  for neglect of family

Oh dear I will check this one out. In 1891 he was a pit labourer but after that he doesn't appear in any of the censuses. Also it's strange because in one of the censuses I found his son Frederick adopted by someone else aged 20.

I wonder whether Herbert ended  in some institition and just listed by just his intials in the later census years ??

A reply I've had is that he was in Wakefield prison.
