the house where Mary Ann White, John Yates and their son Edward John Yates were living 27 Bicknell Street, Blackburn still exists{but as a more modern new house} according to Google Maps

The house was empty in 1871, so did Mary Ann live there before that time with John Yates? He was deceased by the census time.

“I assure you I have a Maria Beatrice Beil  and Elizabeth A Aykroyd as a witness on the marriage certificate for Edward John  Yates to Mary Jane Aykroyd on 25th December 1896”

In that discussion, wasn’t the reference to Maria A Bell being a witness at Mary Ann’s wedding?

I may have put the wrong wedding information in last night when i was half asleep ...

Maria Beatrice Beil and Elizabeth A Aykroyd were definitely witnesses at the wedding to Edward John Yates and Mary Jane Aykroyd married 25th December 1896 at Rawtenstall Longholme Wesleyan Chapel in Haslingden, Lancaster. the Wesleyan Chapel Methodist Minister was Simon C Hall and the Registrar was JJ Parkinson on the certificate. Edward John Yates was 26 years of age and Mary Jane Aykroyd was 29 years of age when they got married

Walton Herbert BELL born Leeds had a sister Maria A Bell (see previous census details posted), if he is the same person as Walton Herbert Bell/Beil born Canada (she could have be the witness M A Bell to Walton Herbert Bell 1875 marriage to Mary Ann Yates (nee White)

Looking at the marriage of sister Maria pretty much confirms that Walton of Yorkshire is the same person as the Walton born Canada:

Maria marries in Blackburn on 02 June 1878 to William Cowell.  Her father is deceased John Bell, a coal merchant.  And her witnesses? Walton Herbert and Mary Ann Bell!

Thank you, Summercrush.

I think that information is not in dispute. It just seemed reading all the quoted messages, that there was some confusion about the two people called Maria … Bell.

As John Yates, is the subject of this thread, has he been found in his earlier life?

Is that Aldershot death accepted as your John Yates?

Maria Beatrice Beil is the half sister of Edward John Yates{mother Mary Ann White & Walter Herbert Beil} and Maria Agnes Beil is the sister of Walter Herbert Beil hence why i was confused or why there was confusion

I don't think the 1870 John Yates Aldershot is the one I'm looking for as it would have been impossible for that John to have been Edward's dad if he was buried in September 1870 and Edward John Yates being born November 1871{if Mary Ann White went to full term being 40 weeks in November 1871 then her first week of pregnancy would have been from the week beginning Monday 20th - 26th February 1871}
