Thank you for this information. I see Thomas Steere ROLLO also had a brother John born about 1860. Do you think I should record Thomas Steere Rollo as being the one who died in 1877?

I found this:
It is not clear what you found, as there are no headings, and you don't say.
Is it a marine indenture?

The children born to David Kidd ROLLO and Margaret THOMSON that I could find were:
•   Thomas Steere ROLLO 15 March 1858 Dundee
•   John ROLLO 30 Dec 1859 Aberdeen
•   Matilda McNaughton ROLLO 5 Jan 1862 Aberdeen
•   David ROLLO 1 Aug 1863 Aberdeen – died 1876.
•   Agnes Grace ROLLO 18 May 1865 Aberdeen
•   Margaret ROLLO 12 April 1867 Aberdeen
•   Willamina ROLLO 27 May 1869 Aberdeen

It looks as if the father David Kidd ROLLO died in 1870  in Aberdeen.
This may explain why young Thomas went to sea as a boy.

That is a good find.

Ashnz...can you please identify the record you are seeing, and how you have accessed it.

It looks like a useful source.

I see indexed a record of a Thomas Rollo death, aged 20, in 1878 In Scotlands People under ‘Marine Register’. Wonder if this same person.

As previously mentioned, headings & sources are important so people can understand what they're reading.
