We will be in Kerry county at the end of August.  My relatives seem to originate in Killarney and Kilcummin, and i will visit these areas.  I am looking for information of Dennis Brennan 1811 b killarney died Carrick-On-Suir Ireland, and Honoro Shea born 1835 Kilcummin, kerry.   Also for John Brennan and Mary Lyne, born late 1700s, i assume in Killarney.  Any help would be appreciated.  Any living decendants alive??

Hello, I have a Shea connection to Kenmare, County Kerry.  Patrick Shea (b 1826, Kenmare) married Margaret O'Neil 1866 in Kenmare.  They ended up in New York USA.

I'm searching for the O'Neil family from County Kerry.  Some stayed in Ireland and some went to Boston/New York USA.

Thank you,
Cara Bryant Murray

Also, original thread was about families from Killarney. Yours aren't. Might be best to move this to new separate thread

There seem to be two candidates for Patrick Shea baptized in the parish of Kenmare
- Patrick baptized 30/3/1819, parents Denis Shea and Johanna Driscol, no address specified, and
- Patrick baptized 20/4/1830, parents Denis Shea and Margaret Connell, address Kenmare.

The names of Patrick's daughters, if he had any, may help distinguish between these two.

The address for the bride seems to be a version of Collorus

Other opinions may exist on this.

If Margaret O'Neill was from Collorus, OP may be in a challenging position. Collorus is in the parish of Tuosist, where parish registers don't start until April 1844. Margaret may well have been born before that date.

Griffith's Valuation does show a Denis Neill in Collorus, parish of Tuosist, Co. Kerry, so my money would be on that as the correct family.

Karen Brennan

The John and Mary Brennan of Killarney had 10 children, so probably safe to assume that there are descendants other than via their eldest son, Denis.

After looking at this family, I have to ask though: what is the evidence to connect the Denis Brennan born Killarney, to the Denis who died in Carrick-on-Suir? This is highly improbable, absent some specific reason to think so. Which leads to the further question - are you descended from the Denis of Killarney, or the Denis of Carrick-on-Suir?
