Warwick Castle
« on: Wednesday 17 August 22 12:46 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know if there was something put out in a newspaper in the 70s in regards to a search for the next people in line to inherit Warwick castle? I know was eventually sold on to the Tussauds group in 1978 but does anyone know of anything before that?

Any information would be much appreciated.

According to Wikipedia, the castle passed down the line of the Earls of Warwick, and unless I've missed something, there doesn't appear to have been any need to look for heirs:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_owners_of_Warwick_Castle
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson
