Excellent RK.  :)

I think we can now say he is not our Irish Robert.

There is another one who died in 1998, but he was born in 1912.   Married to Mabel.  FOund their marriage notice - Robert John's father was John Allen of Unionville.

Toronto Directory for 1929 - the only Robert J is the tinsmith who lived on Kenilworth.

Same in 1928...

Would have needed a change of occupation from Ireland - farming -  intended occupation farming according to the passenger list.  Quite a common name as well which is a shame.

Yes...it is too bad the name is quite common.  He could have gone West, to the USA or to another location in Ontario.

The 1931 Canada census is going to be available next year.   Maybe that will show some leads??

I'm thinking some of his family kept in contact!
(Ignore the typo of "poated" instead of "posted" !!)

Also, in case you don't have it, his mom's passing:
(And cudos to *Sandra* for posting the census, so I had names to compare with!)

Excellent bbart!!

Obit for Robert J Allan in the Toronto Star 29 March 1961 pg 48.

It says he died at the Rosebank convalescent home on March 26 1961.  Robert J Allan (formerly of Woodview Rd North), Rouge Hill, Ontario.  Interment Erskine Cemetery.

The funeral home was in Pickering.  So is the Cemetery.

Spelling is Allan in the obituary.
