HULME nee Standish, Lanc marr abt 1715 but wife didn't show up !!
« on: Tuesday 23 August 22 19:17 BST (UK) »
Samuel Hulme - chr 5 Nov 1697 St Wilfrid, Standish - Father is Thomas, mother is Jane Dicconson, marr 1693, St Wilfrid, Standish.
I have identified 5 children, so, I know he married! (qualified: I am presuming so)  ::)
A Yank from the other side of The Pond. Mother (91 yrs old) born in Rochdale, came over in '48 as a 16 yr old. I'm trying to put her ancestry together, correctly.
Online Parish Clerks, Standish, St Wilfrid shows the marr of his father, but nothing for him. I have no direction as to where else he may have married.
Would greatly appreciate some direction, other repositories that would likely have this information.
Kind regards -   8)

I don't quite understand your post.
The title says 'Hulme nee Standish'
'Nee' means 'born as', and is the French term used to show the maiden name of a married woman.
However, your post seems to be asking for the marriage of a Samuel Hulme, not a woman.

You say you have identified 5 of his children.
Names, dates and places of baptisms, would give information for anybody trying to search for Samuel's marriage.
Have you found all these?
Do any of them give his occupation? That could also help in a search for him.

Just so you know - Samuel wasn't from Standish - he was baptised there - but his family lived in Shevington ,Lancashire

Baptism: 5 Nov 1697 St Wilfrid, Standish, Lancashire, England
Samuel Hulme - Son of Thomas Hulme
    Abode: Shevington

A quick question - how do you know Jane Dicconson is his mother ??
they married 15th June 1697 -
I think you may have it wrong that Jane is his mum
firstly I think Samuel was a twin
here is why I think this
............................
Marriage: 15 Jun 1697 St Wilfrid, Standish, Lancashire, England
Thomas Hulme -
Jane Dicconson - - your mum to Samuel
but
Marriage: 4 Jan 1692/3 St Wilfrid, Standish, Lancashire, England
Thomas Hulme -
Hanna Saile
...........
Baptism: 7 Aug 1694 St Wilfrid, Standish, Lancashire, England
James Hulme - Son of Thomas Hulme & Hanna
Abode: Shevington               so we DEFINITELY know Thomas and Hanna are from Shevington .
....
Baptism: 23 Feb 1695/6 St Wilfrid, Standish, Lancashire, England
Ralph Hulme - Son of Thomas Hulme
    Abode: Shevington
.........
Baptism: 5 Nov 1697 St Wilfrid, Standish, Lancashire, England
John Hulme - Son of Thomas Hulme
Abode: Shevington    SAME DAY AS SAMUEL - SO is this Samuels twin ?...very likely

Baptism: 5 Nov 1697 St Wilfrid, Standish, Lancashire, England
Samuel Hulme - Son of Thomas Hulme
    Abode: Shevington

Baptism: 1 Jan 1701/2 St Wilfrid, Standish, Lancashire, England
William Hulme - Son of Thomas Hulme
    Abode: Shevington

Baptism: 17 Mar 1703/4 St Wilfrid, Standish, Lancashire, England
Elizabeth Hulme - Daughter of Thomas Hulme
    Abode: Shevington

Obviously I could be wrong - but you have to research Jane Dicconson more closely as Samuels mum ???
I would be very interested in what other members think ?

If I read the query correctly I think we are looking for Samuels Wifes name?

But I agree with everything else you have posted garstonite.

Trish :)

I was confused Trish - because it says wife didn't turn up for the marriage - so - he had no wife ?

I was confused Trish - because it says wife didn't turn up for the marriage - so - he had no wife ?

There were several confusing bits in this!
Perhaps the OP just meant the wife's name didn't show up in the birth record they found for Samuel.
Perhaps they missed the baptism for James in 1694 that said Thomas and Hanna.

So is the Thomas who married Jane Dicconson a different Thomas to the one who married Hanna Saile, or the same man?

There are some 21 months between the baptism of Ralph in Feb 1695/6, and John and Samuel in Nov 1697. (The new year starting in March at this time).
It could be that Hanna died after the birth of James, and Thomas remarried Jane.
Can you check if there is any burial for Hanna, Garstonite, as you seem to know where to find these records.  :)

I notice there's only 5 months between the marriage to Jane and the birth of John and Samuel.

Added:
Found Lancashire on-line Parish clerks.
No Hanna Hulme burial listed, but that doesn't necessarily mean to say she didn't die.

familsearch.org have the films for Standish.
If you go to 'catalog', and try to access them that way, it says they can only be viewed at an LDS centre.
However, if you just do a person search for Thomas Hulme with the dates, you can look at the images on the film.
Quite odd.
I had a look at some of the entries. Not much further information to enlighten whether this is the same Thomas.
