Will 1834
« on: Wednesday 24 August 22 04:43 BST (UK) »
I would appreciate it if someone could look at this - especially the name of 'my friend'

my Horse & chaise in case she should wish to keep them on for her own
use. I bequeath to my friend Henry North Osborn Esq my gold watch
_____ chain spurs sidors _____ and military books. I bequeath to my
natural son

Modified, I had Spencer North Osborn, but have now seen a Henry which looks very like.  Still not confident about North.

I am in great hopes that  Messrs M will
settle an annuity of £50 pr anm on Sister Ann for her life  I am also
in hope you will receive from her £400 on my acct towards the latter
end of the year 1836 in case the Laws of ………………….. which I expect will put her in
possession of two small farms by that time situated near Carmarthenshire
as you may see fully explained in my letter to  Messrs M. after you
have read that letter I have written for Messrs _______/ the ?

In the will JDM refers to "his good friend" Miss Mary Nicholas of 1 Nile Street,Bath. She must have been a well off person if he thinks she could afford to keep a horse and chaise. Henry Roche Osborn was the husband of his sister Elizabeth residing at Greenwich

Yes. Forgot about Mary. You are probably correct.

However Elizabeth’s husband was Peter Osborne, and I think he died in 1815.
