Hello!

Im trying to decipher the occupation listed for Jenny Roberts on the top line... is it me or does it say Garden Woman????

I agree with Gardenwoman.  Could be along the lines of a market gardener. Produce is sold grown from her garden or plot of land?

Age 80 cannot see her tending a huge number of other gardens, but who knows.

Interesting info in the link.

The women who worked in the garden at Audley End House in Essex in the late 19th century are individually named and therefore more depth can be added to their stories. A rare surviving diary from a gardener at Audley End in 1874 records how the ‘Garden woman forgot to bring clean linen’. In September he then ‘made up bouquet for Mrs Brown (one of Garden women)’ from some left over plants. If she was the one who had forgotten the linen, she was clearly forgiven!

I too have never heard of Gardenwoman either and thought the same regarding her age but I'm glad to know it's not just me! :)
