James Townley's baptism was recorded as 13 June 1746 although the parish entry also says;
"admitted, but baptised May 16"
Would this mean that he originally was baptised on 16th May?
James Townley's father was a Reverend.

I would suggest he was baptised privately on 16 May, but "admitted" to the Church on 13 June. Numerous threads on here about private baptisms and later "admitted" or "received" into the Church.

Might have been baptised privately because he was not well at birth.....

Could be... James was the only one out of his 8 siblings that appeared to be privately baptised.
