Mr Robinson Master Brick Maker
« on: Sunday 25 September 22 06:00 BST (UK) »
What do people think is Mr Robinson’s forename?

I think I am correct with his occupation but I really cannot decide what his name is.
Hugh/Joseph/Seph  I haven’t found her with confidence in 1851.  There is one with father Joseph a labourer
One with father Richard a Spring Knife Cutler

The daughter is Mary Ann who married Charles Taylor in 1855 Rotherham. She was born c. 1825 (30 at marriage)
Witnesses are both Taylors.

Thank you Neale.
Now to try and find him!

He can’t be the husband of Ellen Peel that “everyone” has, as that Joseph was a shoemaker.

I believe he was alive in 1854

Mary Ann’s address at marriage was Northfield, Kimberworth

“  The deceased was foreman to Mr. Joseph Robinson, brickmaker. On Monday, he was assisting to remove his master's furniture from a house at the brick- yard, near Northfield,
14 January 1854 - Sheffield Independent - Sheffield, Yorkshire, “

1841/1851 Mary Ann may not be att home as old enough to be working.

Possible ???;

1841 Census
Sheffield
Joseph Robinson 55 Brick Maker****
Ellin Robinson 45
Amelia Robinson 20
Sarah Robinson 14

I see a bapt for Amelia on FreeREG, 16 Apr 1820 Sheffield, same parents, Father a Husbandman
+ SARAH 25 Jul 1830, born 09 Jun 1827 Father a Labourer
+ MARY ANN 24 Oct 1824, born 02 Oct 1824 ditto for Fathers occp Labourer

Occp on bapt doesnt add up though.

Amelia married James MOSLEY 1845 but cant seem to see a record of that on line to confirm her Father occp

Ah, I hadn't seen that one Trish, but it isn't as clear cut as I would like.

1845 marriage cert is on FindMyPast. Amelia's father is Joseph, a labourer.

When Joseph the Brickmaker born 1816 married Ann DENTON in 1839 he named his father as Joseph a Brickmaker

There is a baptism 25 Sept 1816 in Doncaster for a Joseph son of Joseph and Ellen
but the image for that says Joseph was a Malster!

1841 Census
Sheffield
Joseph Robinson 55 Brick Maker****
Ellin Robinson 45
Amelia Robinson 20
Sarah Robinson 14

It looks as though Sarah may have married John Henry MYCOCK in 1849. and when Joseph born 1816 died John Henry MYCOCK is one of his executors, so I think that ties all them together

AND when John Henry MYCOCK died, Charles Taylor was one of the mourners!  Phew.
