Holzinger and Donal Union in Austria
« on: Monday 10 October 22 05:27 BST (UK) »
Hello
I am doing research on behalf of a grandson. Does anyone have any info on Erwin Holzinger who married Anna Donal in Austria cir 1939.  Anna was born in 1920 in Enns, Upper Austria.  The spelling of the surnames could be incorrect and may be Olsinger and Dinwald.  Erwin was a senior NCO in the 27th SS Volunteer Grenadier Division Langemarck during WW2. His fate is unknown, although he could be the person who died in Vienna on 25 Oct 1978. Erwin & Anna had a daughter born in Vienna in 1939.

I could help but I need somemore information on this person until I can find any death record on him. I can guess that he was born around the 1920s. Do you have a birth date or marriage certificate? Do you have the parents of Erwin? Do you know anything else that could help? The chances of finding his death would be very very unlikely. Also, he could of died out of Vienna. I'll be looking for some more information though.

Best regards,

Lucas

I suspect it may be difficult to find recent details but we aren't allowed to post detail of living people so if daughter born 1939 is still alive you'd need to edit your post by removing her name.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I think Erwin was Austrian, but I don't know his year or place of birth.  Other than oral history his marriage and birth of daughter in 1939, the only thing found online is on Family Search, a burial at Friedhof Oberlaa, Vienna of an Erwin Holzinger who died on 25 Oct 1978, which may or may not be him.

Hello Dave
Many thanks for the info.  It may well be our man; the location is appropriate. I am trying to make contact with someone in the family who may be able to give us confirmation.  There is a family tree on FamilySearch that may be his which would provide much ancestral info.

This same guy might have been a doctor of medicine (possibly a pharmacist in Reichraming, BH Steyr as late as 1983). His graduation in 1938 might have opened the door to getting married soon after.
Hopefully the OP can confirm his occupation ...

Update: I just realise that the father had been a "Dr" as well, so there is an even bigger chance that this doctor of medicine was the guy born in 1914
FYI The 1914 BC: https://data.matricula-online.eu/de/oesterreich/oberoesterreich/st-peter-am-wimberg/106%252F1914/?pg=7
